5B Notes on the Kingdom of God

1.what is gods overall cosmic plan for man

The church/Kingdom
-God created man to partake in his divine life
Man rejected it
god sought out man to reconcile him and restore him to what he was created for
the son( Jesus Christ son of God) brought redemption by his paschal mystery and preached of the kingdom of god
he instituted a New covenant , with a New Covenant in a New passover and New Paschal lamb
Redemption through paschal mystery
The new chosen people , New priesthood in this New covenant he established and called the church , with peter as the rock
He formed the apostles and taught them about the kingdom of God , preparing them for the reception of the Holy Spirit , the Sanctifying grace God created us to participate in
It is the in the church , establish by christ that the Holy Spirit and sanctifying grace is received for our transformation and salvation( begins catholic understanding of church)
old chosen people- Israelites - Old priesthood- Levi's
Old testament -there was supposed to be a nation of priest's
Priest - the one who offers sacrifice
old testament- each first born male was supposed be the priest of their family
who offer sacrifice of paschal lamp?- jesus and he is the priest
Church means chosen people , gathering of people of god
12 tribes of Old chosen people
God choses 12 Apostles
apostles = new leaders of tribes of chosen people
within Christ's church we get what we need to be part of the chosen people of God
What is God's plan for man?

Inaugurated by creations / salvation history
reached fullness with christ and his church
will be fulfilled. at the end of time
when all who Cooperated with grace are gathered together in the universal Church
1 priest who offers Lamb( himself) is Jesus- jesus is the lamb that was offered - he is the high Priest
How does one cooperated with grace?- you have been freed from the enemies camp, do u choose the good side ( cooperate with grace, god ) or join the enemies side
How does God make it possible for man to participate in the divine life?

man has a share in the divine life through
A. the incarnation and the
B. graces of the redemption
EXAMPLE- apostles receive the grace of H.S after " i Believe" - starting point of grace is saying i believe
I believe is a necessary requirement , but it is not the source of grace or means by which we receive it
water saves you now
man has a share in heaven through redemption
cooperate with grace- receiving it from god. Belief and acting out the belief
the 12 apostles form the church of christ. connected to the 12 tribes ( number wise i think)
What is The Church

Church is the new assembly of God's people , redeemed by christ , and is the instrument of this redemption .

to jesus the church is the new chosen people , successors of the old covenant.

Christ is the king and he brings about the kingdom of the heavens
